LAKELAND - After a decade of serving students across the Lakeland region, Superintendent Pamela Guilbault is setting her sights on a new horizon.
During her 10 years with Lakeland Catholic, Guilbault has held the position of Principal at École Notre Dame High School (NDHS), Deputy Superintendent, and Superintendent of Schools.
She has served on the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta (CCSA) and College of Alberta School Superintendents (CASS) Executive, as well as on the board for the Dragonfly Counselling and Support Centre and Dove Centre.
Guilbault has been instrumental in many ways. From her time as principal at NDHS and overseeing the modernization of the high school, to her time spent as Deputy Superintendent where she was a driving force in establishing programs such as the Hockey Program and creation of the English as an Additional Language Lead position.
Over the course of her two years as Superintendent, Guilbault has continued to expand the programs and services offered to students and families at Lakeland Catholic. From the Mental Health Matters Campaign and Mental Health in Schools Pilot, to the Indigenous Outreach Worker Program, Collaborative Response, and Literacy Intervention, Guilbault has continued to build on the legacy Lakeland Catholic Schools has maintained.
Her focus on continuing to facilitate leadership among staff through the Masters in Education Program and EXCEL Academy have made her an exceptional role model for those looking to expand their careers.
“Without question, Pam has been a steadfast and devoted leader for our division. Pam leads with heart, integrity, passion, but most importantly she leads with her faith. Our students, staff, and families have been well served with her as our Superintendent,” said Deputy Superintendent Chantel Axani, who has worked closely with Guilbault.
Throughout her career, Guilbault has assisted in improving communications and outreach across the division.
In 2022, Guilbault was nominated for a Women of Influence Award by her staff, speaking volumes to her contributions as a leader to the school division.
“It has been a blessing to work and serve Lakeland Catholic alongside Superintendent Pamela Guilbault,” said Axani. “Pam’s dedication to Lakeland Catholic students’ has always been the driving force that guided every decision. Pam truly embodies and lives out Lakeland Catholic’s vision - Christ Our Model, Children Our Focus.”
Secretary-Treasurer Tessa Hetu noted, ”I have had the opportunity to work with Pam since I began with the Division in 2018. She is a highly motivated and dedicated person, and she has had many positive contributions to the Division. While her talents will be missed, I wish her the best in her future endeavors.”
Board Chair Mary Anne Penner wished Guilbault success in the next chapter of her journey.
“It is with deep regret that the Lakeland Catholic Board of Trustees has accepted the resignation of our Superintendent Pamela Guilbault. Her deep faith, her work ethic, her collaborative manner and her ability to move people forward has been a great asset to our Division. She will be greatly missed,” Penner said. “May the Lord bless you always.”
Guilbault described her years with Lakeland Catholic as a blessing, and time she has truly been grateful for.
She said, “Over the past 10 years, Lakeland Catholic has been my home, where my family and I have created strong relationships and lasting memories. Every celebration, milestone, success, and yes, even challenge, has brought me immeasurable joy. Thank you to the staff, students, families and communities. It has been a privilege to lead this faith-filled and dynamic division.”
Guilbault will remain with Lakeland Catholic over the summer break to assist with transition into the 2023-24 school year.
