On Friday, we reflect on Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young witness of faith who reminds us that holiness is possible in our everyday lives.
“The Eucharist is the highway to Heaven.”
His example calls us to live our faith with purpose and to keep Christ at the centre of all we do.

Community Connection

Priority 3: Students at Holy Cross took time Monday to recognize “Bear Witness Day”. Students brought their teddy bears and learned that on May 10th we recognize the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal's order for Canada to fully implement Jordan’s Principle to ensure that First Nations children can receive services without delays.

From Sounds to Sentences! 📝
Our EAL students at Holy Cross were busy this week using creative rhyming activities to build sentences and short stories while strengthening their language and literacy skills.
Working in pairs and small groups, students encouraged one another’s success while demonstrating teamwork, collaboration, and enthusiasm for learning. It was wonderful to see the energy, creativity, and confidence shining throughout the classroom!
Keep shining, Holy Cross superstars! 👏❤️

On Thursday, we reflect on St. Kateri Tekakwitha, whose quiet strength and deep faith continue to inspire us.
“I am not my own. I have given myself to Jesus. He must be my only love.”
Her example reminds us of the strength found in faith, trust, and devotion.

On Wednesday, we reflect on St. Teresa of Calcutta, whose life reminds us that faith is lived through simple acts of love and service.
“Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
Her example continues to shape our faith focus at Lakeland Catholic, calling us to serve others with care, purpose, and love each day.

Thank you to Mme Valerie for sharing her Bear Witness Day photo. 🐻

On Tuesday, we reflect on St. John Bosco, a champion for youth whose life was dedicated to guiding young people with faith, encouragement, and care.
“Do not let yourself be discouraged by any failure, as long as you have done your best.”
May his example remind us of the importance of supporting and uplifting one another.

4EE students had a hands-on science experience with special guest speaker Ms Rachelle from our school office admin team!
Miss Rachelle shared fascinating purple sand collected from beaches around Cold Lake. Students were amazed to learn that the sand contains magnetite, a naturally magnetic mineral. Using magnets, they had so much fun separating the magnetite from the sand and seeing science in action right before their eyes.
Thank you, Ms Rachelle, for bringing local science to life and inspiring curiosity and exploration in our students!

On Monday, we reflect on St. John Paul II, a witness of faith whose leadership and love for young people continue to inspire the world.

Happy Mother's Day from Holy Cross Elementary
"As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you". Isaiah 66:13
"As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you". Isaiah 66:13

We begin Catholic Education Week with gratitude for the gift of Catholic education and the impact it has on our students, families, and school communities.
At Lakeland Catholic, we are proud to be part of a faith-filled learning environment where students are supported to grow in knowledge, in character, and in their relationship with Christ.
“We have this hope, a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul…”
—Hebrews 6:19
Throughout the week, we will celebrate what makes Catholic education meaningful and the ways it continues to shape the lives of our students each day.
