June's Catholic Social Teaching: Peace
As our teacher and example, Jesus showed us that peace is built through love, understanding, forgiveness, and respect for one another.
This month, we reflect on how we can be peacemakers in our schools, homes, and communities.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." — Matthew 5:9

Today is the feast day of St. Augustine of Canterbury. On the announcements this morning, we took a moment to learn about the feast day.

Living Rosary today at 2:00p.m in the gym. Families are welcome to attend.

Priority 2: Mrs. MacNiven’s Kinders created their own chalk paint last Friday and practiced sharing their imagination with others. While some painted mermaids together or practiced writing their names and other words, others used the chalk to make roads complete with traffic lights and stop signs, and another drew a beautiful fish!

Priority 1 & 2: All year, students have been learning about the environment and what they can do to help take care of it as we are all called to be stewards of all of God’s creation. Last week Mrs. Mac’s Kinders had the opportunity to go to the Cold Lake Fish Hatchery where we learned about the important work they do there. Students got to see how they raise the fish from eggs until they are big enough to be released into rivers and lakes all over Alberta. Students had a wonderful time touching, feeding, and even holding the fish. Experiences like this help students to better appreciate how all of God’s creatures need our help to survive and thrive in the world. Thank you to the staff at Cold Lake Fish Hatchery for hosting us!

Priority 2: During their B is for Bubbles day, Mrs. Mac’s students enjoyed some whole-group play while exploring bubbles. Using all kinds of different wands, students explored many ways to make bubbles, they tested theories about the shapes that bubbles would be depending on the shape of the wand, and expanded vocabulary by talking about the size, shape and colours of bubbles. They giggled and chased one another, shared and took turns. It was a wonderful afternoon of exploration and learning!

The BOGO Book Fair will run from Tuesday to Friday this week. Your students shopping time will be during your regular library period.
Please help explain to students how the Buy One, Get One Free book fair works. For example, if a student chooses a $20 book, they should try to find another item close in value to maximize their free item.
Please also note that the book fair will only be open during the afternoons and will not be open in the evening.
