Starting December 1st

We would like to thank Oksana Vallee of Actions for Healthy Communities for partnering with Lakeland Catholic System Excellence Coordinator of Student Support and Wellness, Sherry Depner, to welcome newcomer families to our schools and communities during our Evidence of Learning nights.
Sherry works closely with many of our English as an Additional Language learners and their families. She has also worked closely with AHC for many years. AHC is a registered charitable organization, incorporated under the provincial Societies Act, committed to serving and building community connections with Newcomers to Alberta and Canada, including immigrants, refugees, permanent residents and others.
Together they created a warm welcome, helping integrate families into both the schools and broader community by providing essential connections, information pamphlets and resources navigation.
Thank you for being such a supportive presence in our schools.

What is Advent?!

As we journey through the season of Advent, we will be posting each Sunday meditations that were written by St. Alphonsus Liguori (1696 – 1787)
specifically for the season of Advent. These meditations are presented with one for the morning and one for the evening. However, feel free to use these in any way that will provide spiritual benefit.
The meditations include three points and provide reflections on God’s love for us, acts of contrition, and petitions for final perseverance. They conclude with a brief prayer to Our Blessed Mother.
We hope that these mediations help you and your family journey through Advent

Today Holy Cross Elementary held their first lockdown drill. This drill helps prepare students for possible scenarios. Our staff and students were amazing for their first drill. Thank you to the Cold Lake RCMP for assisting in our practice.

Tomorrow is our school wide PJ Day!

Evidence of Learning Evening starts tonight and will continue tomorrow November 26th. We encourage students to attend with their parents and guardians. If you were unable to book an appointment please contact your child's teacher.

We have a winner! Congrats 2EM!

Book Fair this week....

Every child is created in the image and likeness of God—unique, precious, and deeply loved.
In our Catholic schools, we nurture this truth each day by forming students in kindness, compassion, and responsibility.
Guided by our faith theme, Do Small Things with Great Love, and the Catholic Social Teachings, we help students understand the dignity of every person and how their small acts can make a big difference.
Together with families and parishes, we work to create school environments where every child belongs and where Christ’s love is visible in the way we greet, support, and care for one another.

🕊️ A Joyful Welcome to Archbishop-Designate Stephen Hero!
Lakeland Catholic School Division joyfully shares in the news from the Catholic Archdiocese of Edmonton!
We extend our warmest welcome to Bishop Stephen Hero, who has been appointed by Pope Leo as our new Archbishop of Edmonton.
It is especially inspiring to know that Archbishop-Designate Hero has served as Rector of St. Joseph Seminary and taught at Newman Theological College, institutions that play such a vital role in forming future leaders of the Church, including many who serve in our schools and community.
We pray for a fruitful and blessed ministry as he begins this new chapter.

Mrs. Penney's Grade 5s are feeling the chill.
A warm woolen hat just might fit the bill!
We'll make it ourselves - not bought from a mall.
Although, our version, might be a bit small. :)
