Recognizing Our Principals
On May 1, we marked Principal Appreciation Day—a time to recognize the work our principals do across Lakeland Catholic.
Our principals are entrusted with the care and direction of their school communities. They support staff, guide students, and help ensure each school is a place where learning, faith, and belonging are present every day.
Their work is thoughtful and constant–shaped by attention to detail, long hours, and a steady commitment to keeping their schools running smoothly and with purpose.
We are grateful for each of our principals and the excellence they bring to our schools. Thank you for your continued service to Lakeland Catholic.

Priority 2: Kindergarten students had some chicks come to the classroom this past month and they even got to hold them! Students were in awe of the tiny creatures and had a wonderful visit.

Just a reminder tomorrow is a No School Friday
So proud of our Coyotes who competed at Districts in Lac La Biche! 🏸
Priority 2: During the month of April we had lots of snow and we had lots of water. So students in Mrs. Mac’s Kinder class engaged in some water play this month exploring a small stream of water that had come from the sidewalk run-off. Through their play, students were exploring where the water was coming from and how they could make it move, we discussed the depth of the water in relation to their boots, they explored mud - lots of it! And they engaged in imaginative play creating pies and maple candy on the snow, and imagining themselves as engineers.

At Lakeland Catholic, English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners are discovering that the path to literacy can begin with rhythm and rhyme.
Through vibrant picture books, songs, and classic poems, students are strengthening the foundational skills they need to learn a new language. These experiences build phonological awareness in a way that feels natural and engaging.
Whether it’s repeating a familiar refrain or taking part in word-play activities, students are not just hearing sounds—they are growing in confidence as they begin to recognize patterns, predict language, and try it for themselves.
It’s early literacy in action, where learning is active, meaningful, and full of discovery.
Through vibrant picture books, songs, and classic poems, students are strengthening the foundational skills they need to learn a new language. These experiences build phonological awareness in a way that feels natural and engaging.
