Our 3 year old preschool students got an early start celebrating Mother's Day this week. They got to do some spring planting , share some snacks, and most importantly share smiles, hugs and lots of love with their moms.

A check was presented to the Lakeland Humane Society on behalf of Holy Cross Elementary students this week as a continued commitment to our Mental Health Matters Campaign. Leadership students from our Wellness Warriors worked together to hold a dance for the school and sold "Cookies for a Cause", raising enough money to Sponsor-A-Kennel for a year. This donation provides care, shelter and hope for animals while awaiting their furever homes.
Way to GO Warriors!!
Tomorrow wear a hat!
We had a surprise visitor yesterday! Bishop Gary dropped by the school for a visit and was able to spend time in several classrooms. He also brought along his crozier for students to see. The crozier is a pastoral staff that is conferred on bishops. In the West, the top of the staff is curved to remind the bishop of the shepherd's crook and of his pastoral care of the people entrusted to him.
Every year CMHA dedicates a week in May to raise the awareness of Mental Health. This year Mental Health Week will run May 6-10, and Hats On! for Mental Health Day will take place on May 8. Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health. Participating schools will relax their hat rules and encourage students and teachers to build understanding by wearing hats to school. Students will also participate in a coordinated lesson on understanding mental health and the importance of removing the stigma associated with mental illnesses.
Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day!
